Well, the time has finally come, Connor’s First Birthday has arrived.
I had a lot of fun planning his party. We woke up at our normal time on Saturday, October 25, but we had a special breakfast of pancakes with blueberries and whipped cream. Connor dug right in! He loved them!
Chris caught this adorable smile before breakfast:

So serious!

After breakfast, covered in blueberries and smiles!

I had to call in reinforcements to finish getting the house ready. While Connor went down for a teeny little nap, Sarah, Chris, Janelle, my mom, and I put the finishing touches on the house and wrapping the presents (the benefit, among other things, to having a best friend who is 6′2″ is I didn’t have to deal with the streamers!).
People began arriving shortly and we set out the food (pulled pork bbq, spinach dip, tortilla roll ups, chips, salsa, veggies, fruit, and punch.) Connor pretty much woke up as soon as the first guest arrived. We got him situated in the high chair immediately so he could eat some lunch.

I actually got the hat on him!

In fact, he forgot about it, so it stayed on for a while!

I designed this shirt for him and had the decal made at Sir Speedy.

Enjoying his first ever bbq sandwich
I had seen some cakes like this online and decided to do one for Connor’s birthday. I baked two sheet cakes (one chocolate and one yellow) a few days in advance and cut circles out of that. Two of the circles are actually a half circle of each type. The blue things surrounding the cake are mints from Connor’s Great Aunt Carma, they are little sneakers. We had no idea she was sending them, so it was a pleasant surprise and worked out nice, what with caterpillars having so many feet and all!

Caterpillar! The candles say "The Big 1"

He successfully pulled off some of his high chair decor.

Just because!

Some of the many who gathered for the party.
See here: Ryan, Shawna (sitting), Grandpa Ron (on the couch listening to the bison game), Grandma Nancy next to him, Lindsey and Patrick (standing), Heath and Christine, and half of Sarah.

He got the hat off!

Cake Time!

Patiently waiting.

As you can see, he had no problem at all with digging right into the cake!

Still really hasn't gotten through the frosting yet!

There is the cake!

Wanna share?

He ate it all!
After cake and ice cream, Connor needed a quick bath. After that, it was time for opening presents!

He liked pulling stuff out of the bags.
Melissa and her baby are in the background, along with Grammy Holly and Ryleigh’s headless body!

Melissa and Ryleigh gave Connor Goodnight Moon which he didn't have yet.

A cell phone from momma and daddy. (Ryleigh is 2, and like any two-year old, likes to help!

"Oooh! What's in here?!"

A hat from Uncle Tony.

Yelling at Ryleigh.

Books from Grandpa and Grandma Kulish

Snack time from Sarah!

A hammer from Great Aunt Jean.

A ball popper from momma and daddy.

Vtech baby thing from Uncle Ryan and Shawna (soon-to-be Aunt hopefully!)
All in all, the day went fantastically! Other guests who came were Uncle Joe, Grandpa Tim, Great Aunt Jean, Great Uncle Ron, and Grandma Janelle. People who visited later in the day were Grandpa Marlowe, Summer, Anthony, Aunt Sara, and cousins Sadia and Selia.
My little man is getting to be a big boy.
